Proud to be one of New Zealand's nine Great Walks, the Queen Charlotte Track Classic Walk is a unique adventure among the coastal wilderness of New Zealand. The track is known for its breathtaking views, diverse landscape, historical landmarks and wide array of native bush and wildlife. The track is 70km long and stretches from historic Ship Cove to Anakiwa, winding through coastal forest, around coves and inlets, and along dramatic ridges to lookout points with awe inspiring views of the scenery below.
You will encounter myriad native bird species, such as the inquisitive weka. Explore the unique Marlborough Sounds, a collection of deep river valleys etched by centuries of geological activity and now filled with the waters of the Pacific Ocean. Green hills rise spectacularly out of the ocean around a winding coastline of sheltered inlets and sandy bays. This moderately strenuous 5-day walking trip offers an in-depth exploration of the Marlborough Sounds as it passes through lush coastal forest, historic bays, and across ridges providing uninterrupted views of Queen Charlotte and Kenepuru Sounds.
Each night come to rest at 4 star lodges - Furneaux Lodge, Punga Cove and Lochmara Lodge - all with a restaurant, comfortable accommodation and a superb setting.
