Departing from Auckland, you will explore some of the highlights of Coromandel on foot and enjoy culinary experiences during the tour. Walk one of the finest remaining Kauri groves in North Island, feast your eyes upon the white sand beaches while marvelling Waihi Beach, summit Wairere Falls and enjoy a 'paddock-to-plate' food experience at a local award-winning bistro. White sand beaches, turquoise waters, lush valleys, laid-back vibe and endless charisma, the Coromandel Peninsula is renowned for its natural beauty and is an ideal place to escape. Travelling in a luxury van, you will enjoy easy to moderate graded day walks over three days. Venture into a spectacular grove of Kauri trees on Day 1. These Kauris have been protected since before the turn of the century and are truly magnificent. On Day 2, walk from secluded Homunga Bay through dense pohutukawa forest and arrive at white sand Waihi Beach, a bustling and authentic Kiwi beach to relax and unwind. On the final day, you'll weave your way through moss covered rocks and tree roots, and climb to the top of Wairere Falls, where you will be rewarded with the spectacular views of the water plunging 153 metres, making it the highest waterfall on the North Island.
The tour also includes some unique gastronomic experiences such as sampling velvety gelato made from full-cream jersey cow milk fed on lush local pastures, and visiting a local fifth-generation, family owned and operated winery for award-winning wine tasting.
The walk is fully catered. You will stay at a country style boutique lodge tucked away in the beautiful Kauaeranga Valley where you can also relax in the hot tub or take a swim in the nearby river. Then enjoy a gourmet three-course meal every night matched with New Zealand wine or beer.
This is a fully guided and all inclusive walking tour. Guided by experienced local guides, you'll walk 3 - 5 hours each day. With our hiking support, you'll only need to carry a day pack giving you more time to immerse yourself in the magnificent natural beauty.

Walking distance: approximately 5 km (3 Miles), 2.5 hours walking (Easy Grade).
We will collect you from Auckland at approx. 10:00am (or Hamilton at 12:00pm) before heading to the Coromandel Peninsula for a stunning trail where your walk to the finest remaining Kauri groves in a lush and diverse ecological area. These Kauris have been protected since before the turn of the century and are truly magnificent. The track is very well formed with footbridges and boardwalks, which take you close to the trees.
Then head to the beautiful Kauaeranga Valley to your accommodation where you will be based for two nights.
Relax with a glass of wine or beer and some nibbles as you get to know your fellow walkers. Tonight's delicious three-course meal is prepared in-house by the Kiwi host.
Walking distance: approximately 9 km (5.5 Miles), 4 hours walking (Moderate Grade).
Relish a delicious breakfast in the alfresco dining area of the lodge, surrounded by native bush and bird life.
Head to the coast for your coastal walk from Homunga Bay to Waihi Beach. Feast your eyes upon the white sand beaches, turquoise coloured water and magnificent Pohutakawa trees as you wind your way around three bays, stopping for a picnic lunch on the beach. Optional side track up to the falls.
When your hearts have had enough of the endless coastal views and sea breezes, you will visit a local award-winning bistro for a unique paddock-to-plate experience followed by dinner in this magical setting.
Walking distance: approximately 5 km (3.7 Miles), 3 - 4 hours walking (Moderate Grade).
Head inland a little to climb to the top of Wairere Falls - the tallest waterfall in the North Island. Plunging 153m from the Kaimai range above, a well maintained track winds across bridges with lovely views of cascades, before reaching to your first view of the falls. From here you climb to the top of the falls for a breath-taking view over the valley and Waikato plains.
To reward your efforts, it's time to visit the land of blueberries and ice cream! Indulge in a taste of the most delicious handmade gelato made from full cream jersey cow milk fed on lush Waikato pastures.
A visit to a local family-owned and operated winery where you will be treated the tastes of their multi-award winning wines rounds off your day before you head back to Auckland (or Hamilton) with fond memories and a sweet taste in your mouth.

The Coromandel does not have very distinct seasons. As the region has a lengthy coastline it enjoys a subtropical/oceanic climate with year-round moderate temperatures and no particular rainy season. This makes it an excellent destination for those who wish to experience nature up close, relax, and explore the untouched beauty to be found here.Temperatures in The Coromandel reach between 24 - 31°C in the summer months and average around 12 - 14°C in the middle of winter.

The tour operator is at the mercy of nature in all her beauty and all her fury. The tour operator will under no circumstance knowingly place at risk the health and well-being of our guests and guides. In the case of natural threats, acts of God and the like (e.g. bushfires, impassable snow, etc) the tour operator may need to cancel a walk with very little notice. In some cases, this can occur after the walk has commenced. The tour operator reserves the right to cancel any walk up to 60 days prior to departure if a minimum of 4 walkers are unable to meet for a tour. If the tour operator needs to cancel for any reason, the cost of the walk or any other costs associated with travel to the designated pick up point, overnight accommodation, meals, etc will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore we strongly recommend travel insurance be taken out prior to travel.Force Majeure'Force Majeure' means (without restriction) any event which Onlyluxe Travel or its third party providers could not, even with due care, foresee or avoid. Force Majeure covers events such as, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events beyond our control. In the case of Force Majeure Onlyluxe Travel will not accept liability, and reserves the right to change and cancel trips.EvacuationsIn rare circumstances, due to injury or unforeseen illness, the tour operator may need to evacuate you from a remote part of the walk. Helicopter evacuations are expensive and in most cases will be at a cost to the customer.For Australian residents, under the Australian Government Medicare Act, it is prohibited for any domestic travel insurance product to provide any financial reimbursement with regard to ambulance or air ambulance services. We therefore strongly advise our customers to take specific ambulance cover through their health insurance provider. Evacuation cost will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore it is also strongly recommended that our customers take out travel insurance to cover (amongst other things) the costs associated with evacuation.Travel InsuranceIn view of the heavy cancellation penalties applied to cancelled reservations in certain circumstances, we strongly recommends suitable travel insurance be purchased at the time the holding deposit is paid. We recommend insurance cover that covers any loss which may be suffered due to cancellation. We also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance against loss of baggage and medical expenses.
