This is a delightful section offering the chance to see koalas relaxing in the trees in the eucalyptus forest. Arrive at the historic Cape Otway Lighthouse, Australia's oldest continuously operating lighthouse.
Then transfer to your accommodation Alkina Lodge, set amongst native forest, overlooking the Great Ocean Road. It's designed by award winning architects, Glenn Murcutt and Wendy Lewin. ‘Touch this earth lightly’ is reflected in the architecture of the lodges.
Tonight you'll enjoy dinner prepared by the lodge's personal chef featuring high quality local produce matched perfectly with local Victorian wines. Sit back and enjoy the company of your fellow companions in this modern and stylish accommodation.
Walking distance: 12.5 km, approx. 5 - 6 hours walking (Moderate Grade). Stretch out on a country lane to the highest point of the Great Ocean Walk.
Enjoy your breakfast with hot and cold options before setting out on your day's walk. Today will be the most challenging day of the tour. You will see the most spectacular and isolated areas of the Great Ocean Walk. From Milanesia Gate, you will walk through the forest to Milanesia Beach. After wandering along the beach, you will start climbing. The trail is dissected by gullies before the climb, which has a great view over Milanesia. Rough tree ferns and stands of remnant Eucalyptus dot the path before an ascent of 138 steps. After this, the track will go on to another small climb, leading out of the forest to Ryans Den Campsite. Follow the coastal line from here and you will be led to Cape Volney.
Walking distance: 8 km, approx. 3 hours walking (Moderate Grade).
After breakfast, head out for your last walking experience from Princetown to the coast. Start your walk across a boardwalk that crosses wetlands and pretty creek that flows into a river. The trail winds through coastal scrub greening the hills between the river and the ocean. Follow the cliff tops and from every rise there are fabulous views. Head to Gibson's steps where you descend to the beach to views the cliffs from below and visit the impressive limestone sea stacks of Gog and Magog. You continue on your final destination and admire the rugged splendour of the famous 12 Apostles rising majestically from the Southern Ocean. Created by constant erosion of the limestone cliffs over 10-20 million years. At the end of your walk you join a helicopter for a spectacular flight over the Twelve Apostles and coastline, a great way to gain a perspective of the grandeur of this region. From here you head to Port Campbell for a celebratory lunch before heading back to Melbourne. You’ll be dropped off at Hotel Grand Chancellor Melbourne by 7:00 to 7:30pm.

Victoria enjoys a temperate climate and reliable rainfall with four distinct seasons. Here is a guide to the hottest and coolest.Summer: the average maximum temperature in south-west Victoria across January and February is 25 degrees Celsius, but can on occasion reach mid to high 30s. Sunscreen is required at all times, even on cloudy days, the UV factor can be deceptive. Wind can also burn, even when the temperature appears mild. Overnight temperatures vary from 8 to 15 degrees Celsius.Winter: June to August is the coldest time in Victoria, with average maximum temperatures of between 8 and 13 degrees Celsius.Spring and Autumn can be anywhere in between! Expect mild days, with ocean breezes and winds. Late afternoons cool down, and evenings will require a fleece or long sleeves. As with all coastal walking, the weather can be unpredictable at all times of the year. Being cooler makes the walking no less enjoyable. Even the wildest days lend themselves to walking this rugged coastline, giving the opportunity to appreciate how a stretch became known as the "Shipwreck Coast". Access to a weatherproof jacket is essential, and we recommend walkers bring thermal clothing along, just in case!(Data sourced from Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, Units = °C)

The tour operator will under no circumstance knowingly place at risk the health and well-being of our guests and guides. In the case of natural threats, acts of God and the like (e.g. bushfires, impassable snow, etc) the tour operator may need to cancel a walk with very little notice. In some cases, this can occur after the walk has commenced. The tour operator reserves the right to cancel any walk up to 60 days prior to departure if a minimum of 4 walkers are unable to meet for a tour. Helicopter evacuations are expensive and in most cases will be at a cost to the customer. For Australian residents, under the Australian Government Medicare Act, it is prohibited for any domestic travel insurance product to provide any financial reimbursement with regard to ambulance or air ambulance services. We therefore strongly advise our customers to take specific ambulance cover through their health insurance provider. Evacuation cost will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore it is also strongly recommended that our customers take out travel insurance to cover (amongst other things) the costs associated with evacuation.Travel InsuranceIn view of the heavy cancellation penalties applied to cancelled reservations in certain circumstances, we strongly recommends suitable travel insurance be purchased at the time the holding deposit is paid. We recommend insurance cover that covers any loss which may be suffered due to cancellation. We also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance against loss of baggage and medical expenses.
