Your Flinders Ranges Odysseys guide will pick you up from your Adelaide hotel around 7.30am to commence your 3 day tour into the majestic Flinders Ranges. Sit back and relax while you travel through the mid-north region of South Australia stopping at the old copper mining town of Burra for morning tea and then Orroroo for lunch.
Enjoy view of Mount Remarkable as you head to the towns of Wilmington and Quorn. The majestic Flinders Ranges come into view as you get closer to the small outback town of Hawker. On the way, stop at Kanyaka Station Homestead Ruins and see what's left of this once massive sheep and cattle station of about 950 square kilometres. Late afternoon, arrive at Rawnsley Park Station, your home for the next two nights.
Rawnsley Park Station overlooks the southern side of Wilpena Pound and provides the perfect base for exploring the Flinders Ranges.
Late afternoon, enjoy a Sunset on the Chase tour where you'll watch the stunning sunset reflect on the Chase Range as you sip on local wine and enjoy delicious canapés. The 40 minute drive through the property provides a great opportunity to see native wildlife then finish your day with a delicious 2 course dinner in the Woolshed Restaurant, an authentic Australian converted woolshed serving delicious Modern Australian cuisine.
Tucked away in a secluded spot with breathtaking views, your one-bedroom eco-villa is the iconic accommodation in Flinders Ranges. It offers great views of Wilpena Pound and the surrounding ranges from your private verandah. Enjoy a swim in the swimming pool with the Flinders Ranges as the backdrops.

Your guide will take you to Daybreak Loop Walk and introduce you to the unique plants and wildlife of Rawnsley Bluff. Learn how the ancient sea floor has been uplifted and eroded to create this amazing landscape. Complete your morning with a cooked bush breakfast.
Spend the rest of the day touring around the southern Flinders Ranges including the local sights, picturesque Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges and peaceful walks taking you through the creek beds.
This evening, join a tour of the old woolshed and enjoy a 3 course lamb tasting food experience where local lamb from the property will be showcased, and prepared in three different and delicious courses. Clare Valley wines will be matched with each course. The dinner will finish with South Australian port and local cheeses.
This morning farewell your hosts and Rawnsley Park Station and head to Mount Remarkable, where you will enjoy some morning tea.
After lunch, farewell Clare and return to Adelaide.

You will be collected by you guide from your hotel early in the morning and transferred to the Adelaide Airport for your flight to Kangaroo Island. On arrival at Kingscote Airport, meet your local guide and your island nature experience begins with an introduction to Kangaroo Island. Tour through several island habitats and see wildlife in their natural environments. As you travel the island keep an eye out for echidnas, wallabies, reptiles and wildflowers.
At the spectacular Seal Bay Conservation Park, your guide will escort you on a memorable walk along the beach. Home to a healthy Australian sea lion colony, walk amongst them as they bask on the beach or in the sand dunes after their extensive fishing expedition. This is a truly unforgettable experience — one that you will treasure forever.
Enjoy a delicious gourmet picnic style lunch with local Kangaroo Island wine in an exclusive Heritage-listed natural bush property. Follow lunch with a pleasant bushwalk or a stroll along the beach. Explore the spectacular beaches of the north coast and enjoy a bushwalk. As the sun goes down you will be transferred to your accommodation at Kangaroo Island Wilderness Retreat, where you will enjoy dinner before retiring to your room, in preparation for your walking tour the next day.

Travel to the western end of the island and discover the remarkable Flinders Chase National Park, one of the oldest and most important national parks in South Australia. The park incorporates almost 20 per cent of the island and much of it is a Wilderness Protection Area, home to a variety of fauna and flora unique to Kangaroo Island. Enjoy the opportunity to walk through the park in search for kangaroos, wallabies and a variety of birdlife.
See some of the 10,000 healthy Long-nosed Fur Seals in their colony at Cape du Couedic and discover the formation of Remarkable Rocks. These large granite boulders balance dramatically on the cliff edge, which plunges 75 metres into the turbulent Southern Ocean below. At Admirals Arch see where the powerful forces of nature have cut through the headland to create a natural geological formation. Today your gourmet style picnic lunch will be served in a secluded bush setting.
By special permit, enter the Kelly Hill Conservation Park to see kangaroos and other native wildlife emerge from the safety of the bush land to graze on the open plains. Your tour concludes at Penneshaw in time for the return ferry to the mainland and coach transfer to your chosen Adelaide accommodation. Returns from KI at 10.40pm to Adelaide CBD Hotels.

The climate in the Southern Outback is generally dry and sunny year round.AUTUMN (Mar - May)This season provides warm days with cooler evenings. Day temperatures will average between 15 – 20°C with the later part of the season being cooler. The evening temperatures will be much cooler and warm clothing will be required. As the days cool, wildlife becomes more active during the middle parts of the day.WINTER (Jun - Aug)Walking in winter is particularly beautiful in the Flinders with cold nights and days that are warm with some spectacular sunrises and sunsets. This season provides ideal walking weather with daily temperatures of around 15°C and occasionally as high as 25°C. The evenings and early mornings will be very cold and winter clothing will be required. During July/August temperatures can drop to below 0°C at night. A roaring camp fire and warming glasses of red wine will be enjoyed each night and after winter rains, with surface water in the creeks, wildlife will be far-reaching with lots of food available and very active throughout the day. Emus will generally begin laying from August onwards.SPRING (Sep - Nov)Spring in the Flinders Ranges is undeniably spectacular! It is a great time to spot emu chicks as they begin hatching and the outback brown and orange colours are bright with red, yellow, white and purple with native plants and wildflowers. Migratory birds will generally begin to appear and wedgetail eagle chicks will hatch between August and September, fledging by November. The abundance of and timing of the wildflowers depends entirely on rainfall throughout the year. Day temperatures can average between 20°C-25°C with the later part of the season getting warmer. The evening temperatures will be cooler in the early part of the season so a warm layer of clothing will be required.SUMMER (Dec - Feb)The walking tour is not operate during the hot, summer months, although you can still book a stay at Arkaba Homestead which is open year round and enjoy shorter walks as part of guided activities that are included in the tariff.(Data sourced from Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, Units = °C)

The tour operator is at the mercy of nature in all her beauty and all her fury. The tour operator will under no circumstance knowingly place at risk the health and well-being of our guests and guides. In the case of natural threats, acts of God and the like (e.g. bushfires, impassable snow, etc) the tour operator may need to cancel a walk with very little notice. In some cases, this can occur after the walk has commenced. The tour operator reserves the right to cancel any walk up to 60 days prior to departure if a minimum of 4 walkers are unable to meet for a tour. If the tour operator needs to cancel for any reason, the cost of the walk or any other costs associated with travel to the designated pick up point, overnight accommodation, meals, etc will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore we strongly recommend travel insurance be taken out prior to travel.Force Majeure'Force Majeure' means (without restriction) any event which Onlyluxe Travel or its third party providers could not, even with due care, foresee or avoid. Force Majeure covers events such as, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events beyond our control. In the case of Force Majeure Onlyluxe Travel will not accept liability, and reserves the right to change and cancel trips.EvacuationsIn rare circumstances, due to injury or unforeseen illness, the tour operator may need to evacuate you from a remote part of the walk. Helicopter evacuations are expensive and in most cases will be at a cost to the customer.For Australian residents, under the Australian Government Medicare Act, it is prohibited for any domestic travel insurance product to provide any financial reimbursement with regard to ambulance or air ambulance services. We therefore strongly advise our customers to take specific ambulance cover through their health insurance provider. Evacuation cost will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore it is also strongly recommended that our customers take out travel insurance to cover (amongst other things) the costs associated with evacuation.Travel InsuranceIn view of the heavy cancellation penalties applied to cancelled reservations in certain circumstances, we strongly recommends suitable travel insurance be purchased at the time the holding deposit is paid. We recommend insurance cover that covers any loss which may be suffered due to cancellation. We also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance against loss of baggage and medical expenses.
