Bruny Island, located just 40km from Hobart off the south-eastern coast of Tasmania, is the state's fourth largest island. The island is separated from the Tasmanian mainland by the D'Entrecasteaux Channel, and its east coast lies within the Tasman Sea. Bruny Island, located just 40km from Hobart off the south-eastern coast of Tasmania, is the state's fourth largest island. The island is separated from the Tasmanian mainland by the D'Entrecasteaux Channel, and its east coast lies within the Tasman Sea. Known for the incredible quality of its produce and fresh seafood, Bruny Island is also renowned for some of Tasmania's most beautifully preserved natural environments with abundant wildlife and stunning cliff top views. The island is about 50 km long but appears to be two islands with North and South Bruny joined by a narrow strip of land called Bruny Island Neck. Bruny Island Neck is an isthmus of land connecting north and south Bruny Island in southern Tasmania and offers stunning 360 degree views and is an important habitat for native wildlife.
The walk is fully supported and you only need to carry a day pack.
A small group of guests (maximum 12) are treated to coastal walks as well as Tasmanian produce including extravagant cheese, fresh oysters and mellow wine.
Your package includes 2 nights' accommodation at a historic guest house located at beautiful Little Taylors Bay and the beach, private transfers from Hobart, daily guided walks along Bruny's stunning coastline and all meals (2 breakfast, 3 lunches, 2 dinners).

Meet your guide at the Hotel Grand Chancellor at 8:00am. Then transfer to Kettering to join your ferry to Bruny Island. Then enjoy a scenic drive through the original homeland of the Nuenonne Aboriginal people. The island has a wide range of rich history, remarkable scenery and a wide-range wildlife which you will be a witness of.
Your walking adventure begins at the Bruny Island Neck Game Reserve and walk to the remarkable Cape Queen Elizabeth. Surrounded by lagoons and dunes this 4 hour walk is features white beaches and headlands with spectacular views. Features of this walk include open dry sclerophyll bushland, the home of the bennetts wallaby, a pretty lagoon, stunning beaches and fantastic views from the summit of the Cape.
At the end of your walk you head to your accommodation in the seaside town of Adventure Bay, a popular location in the 1700s for early explorers who stopped here to replenish supplies. En-route you will stop at the local cheese factory and oyster factory to sample some produce.
Spend two nights at historic Guest House situated on Little Taylors Bay. The historic house has a fascinating past - the original homestead Old Mill Farm was built in 1871 and later home to a Post Office, an apple orchard and a school. Today you can experience a blend of old world charm and modern convenience. Situated on Little Taylors Bay, and close to both Cloudy Bay Lagoon and Bruny Lighthouse, the Guesthouse is the perfect place to experience the cultural landscape of Bruny Island. The house accommodates up to 10 people (6 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms) with a large open lounge and dining area, and a second lounge. A cottage directly across the road (2 bedroom, 1 bathroom) will be used when group size is more than 10 people.
Tonight you'll enjoy dinner at the only restaurant on the island, offering great local specialities and a great local atmosphere.

Enjoy a hearty hot and cold breakfast before you set out for your walking experience. Today you travel to the other side of the island to explore the East Cloudy Head within South Bruny National Park. On this walk you will enjoy expansive seascapes and rugged coastlines. Discover the amazing flora shaped by wind and seaspray, with the high chance of encountering an echidna or two along the way and see Cape Bruny Lighthouse. You return via Bruny Island winery for cheese and wine tasting and select our wines for the evening, before heading to our accommodation for a relaxing dinner.
Walking distance: 6 km, approx. 3.5 hours of walking, including breaks; Ascent/Descent: 270m/270m (Moderate Grade)
After your breakfast, pack your bags before heading off to explore Fluted Cape with its 272 metre high dolerite sea cliffs. Your walk begin along the beach as you follow the coastline to Grass Point passing through tall forest dominated by Tasmanian Blue Gums. Grass Point was once a whaling station in the early 1800s. From here you head up a steep climb to the summit of Fluted Cape (272m) and admire its beautiful organ pipe formations. From here your walk will carry you onto the cliff tops of the stunning dolerite cliffs with a distant view of Tasman Island and stunning views over Adventure Bay and Cape Queen Elizabeth.
In the afternoon you join a wilderness cruise exploring Bruny Island by sea. Before making your way back to Hobart. Arriving back on Hobart at approximately 6:30pm.

The tour operator is at the mercy of nature in all her beauty and all her fury. The tour operator will under no circumstance knowingly place at risk the health and well-being of our guests and guides. In the case of natural threats, acts of God and the like (e.g. bushfires, impassable snow, etc) the tour operator may need to cancel a walk with very little notice. In some cases, this can occur after the walk has commenced. The tour operator reserves the right to cancel any walk up to 60 days prior to departure if a minimum of 4 walkers are unable to meet for a tour. If the tour operator needs to cancel for any reason, the cost of the walk or any other costs associated with travel to the designated pick up point, overnight accommodation, meals, etc will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore we strongly recommend travel insurance be taken out prior to travel.Force Majeure'Force Majeure' means (without restriction) any event which Onlyluxe Travel or its third party providers could not, even with due care, foresee or avoid. Force Majeure covers events such as, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events beyond our control. In the case of Force Majeure Onlyluxe Travel will not accept liability, and reserves the right to change and cancel trips.EvacuationsIn rare circumstances, due to injury or unforeseen illness, the tour operator may need to evacuate you from a remote part of the walk. Helicopter evacuations are expensive and in most cases will be at a cost to the customer.For Australian residents, under the Australian Government Medicare Act, it is prohibited for any domestic travel insurance product to provide any financial reimbursement with regard to ambulance or air ambulance services. We therefore strongly advise our customers to take specific ambulance cover through their health insurance provider. Evacuation cost will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore it is also strongly recommended that our customers take out travel insurance to cover (amongst other things) the costs associated with evacuation.Travel InsuranceIn view of the heavy cancellation penalties applied to cancelled reservations in certain circumstances, we strongly recommends suitable travel insurance be purchased at the time the holding deposit is paid. We recommend insurance cover that covers any loss which may be suffered due to cancellation. We also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance against loss of baggage and medical expenses.
