South Australia's favourite foodie, Maggie Beer is back as leader of the popular KI Food Safari event at Southern Ocean Lodge for seven rollicking nights from July 28 - 4 August 2018.

First mounted in 2011, the KI Food Safari has fast become an institution among lovers of the carefully grown produce and rich seafood of Kangaroo Island.

Charting a route of culinary discovery across Kangaroo Island in search of plentiful food and wine hand-picked straight from the source. South Australia’s own much-loved food legend Maggie Beer will star as Safari Leader, interchanging with guest chefs and local food personalities to guide excursions from farm to winery, plenty of feasting in the field and a celebration of the day’s harvest enjoyed around the table at Southern Ocean Lodge.

A highlight of this year's itinerary is a special dinner created by The Lane Vineyard’s Executive Chef James Brinklow, presented with matched wines from the acclaimed Adelaide Hills winery.

There will be also island expeditions including a visit to the Island Pure sheep dairy, a long lunch at Lifetime Private Retreats on the north coast and an experience of the ground-breaking Aquaculture Skills Centre at Parndana School where senior students produce sustainable barramundi and culinary herbs for supply to the lodge.
